Equine Love

It's been a little while since I last updated my journal properly and so I figured, there would be no better time (before my subscription runs out next month!) to do a feature on some of my favorite works on DA.

Horses have always been a source of love and admiration for me. Since I was about 8, I've ridden and owned my own, until about a year ago when I moved out of home and off of the farm into town, where its just that little bit harder to keep a horse... lol and so I sold my beloved chestnut thoroughbred mare, Sascha and have to be content with dreaming about them.
Below, are some of my favorite DA works. Not just because they celebrate horses, but because they are in my eyes, flawless.
Please visit their creators pages and have a look around, you won't be disapointed.

Extremely beautiful creations of the horse and his kind.

Without a doubt, my favorite Equine Artist on DA. All of her work has such emotion and feeling, its very touching.

Another fantastic and talented artist, her pictures are something out of a dream.

I had to pick more than just two works to display, visit her gallery and you'll see why! She's definately a favorite.

Her work for some beautiful reason, brings back memories of my favorite childhood character, Thowra, the Silver Brumby. Although a little quiet lately, she's definately one to watch! Her work is simply stunning.

Long Time, No See

Well its been a while hasn't it? I think its been something like 5 months since I've submitted something (until today! yay!) and Im pleased to say Im back.

Loads has happend since my last entries. As I've mentioned before, I now have moved out of my parents house and am sufficiantly able to stand on my own two feet so to speak, lol, I even have broadband internet with unlimited downloads, so that should make my time on DA much easier.
I know Im going to face the problem of becoming overly addicted to the palce again. I have that bad habbit most artist seem to fall into, staying up to the wee hours to simply create what inspires them before they go to bed and forget about it. lol.

I wanted to share with you all some of my favorite works from my favorites gallery. Be sure to check out the artist pages, they are all very talented and have some amazing work!

by :iconhowlinghorse:
This particular piece always reminded me of the Silver Brumby, a famous Australian legend, or truth, depends how you look at it. He was created by the author Elyne Mitchell and imortalized forever in the imaginations of young horse lovers both in Australia and internationally.

by :iconjessie145:
Being the huge fan of LOST that I am, I couldn't go past this drawing. It held me captivated for so long. A simply stunning and detailed piece of work that captures emotion and Kate's desperation perfectly.

by :iconavalonsky:
Abby is a personal friend of mine, and after being absent for so long, I knew I needed to do my duty and check up on her work. It was this particular picture which inspired me to get back into my art work again. I remember when she first started out on the whole subject of ';photo-manipulation' and am still to this day, increasingly jealous of how she continues to progress in leaps and bounds.
This portrait simply blows me away.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These are just a few of the works that have totally made my day by simply existing and inspiring me in the world of art. Im sure there will be more to add in the coming days and weeks as I continue to reacquaint myself with DA and all my fellow artist.
Until then, adieu! I should really get going to bed, as I have 6 hours before my working day starts all over again and Im exhausted.

And the Winner is....

Appologies for the lateness darls, I've been without a computer for way too long now and have stolen back to my parents to borrow theirs so I can announce the winner. :)

Although, we only had only two fabulous entries in this comp, the pieces put forward were both fantastic! Judge :iconavalonsky: spent some time deciding on who would take out the prize.

And the winning entry is:

Okay, so I know Enya isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I happen to quite like her music :P Not only do I like it, but I find it very inspiring. Her lyrics and sounds send images dancing in my imagination and I envy her for her talents.

HOWEVER, seeing as there's only TWO entries in the contest so far, I'm going to extend the date to AUGUST 1ST.....NOVEMBER 1ST (oppps! sleepy lol) to allow for the later entries (prays that there will be some! lol)

I wish I knew how to set it all out properly and make my journal all pretty to attract your attention, but I'm completely oblivious to how this side of DA works; really! So you'll have to make do with the information below.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, if you got this far.
